In this day where rapid technology advancements meet the curve of social networking online, entrepreneurs are experimenting with new ways (and combinations of existing ways) to do business online. What about enabling social networkers to send gifts anonymously? How about an easy way to use small mobile screens for web surfing and business online? That’s exactly what Goosca and Squace are up to. Let’s take a look…

Hartford, CT — What do you get when you cross Social Networking with eCommerce and enable people to receive gifts from others without revealing your address?
Goosca. Goosca.com, that is.

Facebook plus Amazon” is the way to go

According to Alex Tung, Goosca’s originator, “Facebook plus Amazon” is the way to go. Interesting. The company believes that a large percentage of social networking/dating sites users would not oppose the idea of receiving gifts from someone they only know for days or don’t even know, as long as their real names and addresses can be kept confidential.

Above, the Goosca site doesn’t look ready for prime time… but the concept is worth considering — will marrying anonymous gift giving with social networking pay off?

I’m pretty sure that Amazon will be watching, and Facebook too — it wouldn’t take too much for them to do a similar deal if the idea catches on. But taking a closer look at the Goosca site, one finds a lot of lingerie for sale. Hmmmmm. So Mr. Tung has found a way to capitalize on lonely surfers who want to send gifts to girls they don’t know. I’m not sure this one is really going anywhere, but it does illustrate that there are still opportunities to put two concepts together and capitalize on the result.

London, England — Then there’s “Squace.” What if it was as easy to surf the internet on your phone as it is on a computer — without typing? It is now, according to Squace (get your sites mobile ready, BlogMasters).

What if it was as easy to surf the internet on your phone as it is on a computer — without typing?

“Squace is a game-changer — it’s time to give the mobile Internet another try,” said Aage Reerslev, Squace CEO and founder. “Instead of something you only use out of desperation, Squace makes the mobile Internet easy to use any time — when you’re commuting to work on the bus or train, waiting for kids at sports practice, or chatting with friends in a café.”

Above, you can test out Squace at their site with a real time look at how the system works on a mock cell phone screen. This concept has more potential than Gooska, I think.

Hmmmm, I thought the I phone already did all of that. But the Squace people (”Squace People” — I like that), have an interesting business angle on their service/product:

“Think of Squace as a new way to extend your current business on the Web and create new revenue streams,’” said Reerslev. “We offer you precision, contextual audience targeting that’s based on our users’ profile, preferences and tags, and a fast and easy way to deliver new personalized services.”

There’s that Social Networking factor again, this time served up via tags. Where would we be without XML capabilities?

When you go to the Squace site, you can get an account and play with the concept using a virtual cell phone with screen set-up to respond to the software. What exactly is Squace? A new kind of browser optimized for the small screens of mobile devices. And, it’s freeware. Will it catch on? Now that’s another question. If vendors like Apple can already make the existing internet accessible from a small device, why use what amounts to another operating system?

Maybe because the Apple system isn’t yet available on most of the estimated 3 billion mobile devices out there in the world. So get ready, BlogMasters and Content Management Specialists — it’s coming. Whether Squace is the answer, you can bet that mobile users are really primed to ride the web wave — and the wave is a big one.
